Introduction
Chengtian Temple (also known as Yuetai Temple), located southeast of Chongyang Gate in the city center of Quanzhou, was originally a southern garden left by the military governor Li Yu for his son Li Jiao during the Five Dynasties. Later, during the reign of Zhou Xiande (954-960), it was converted into a Buddhist temple and named Nan Chan Temple. In the fourth year of the Song Dynasty's Jingde era (1007), it was renamed Chengtian Temple. During the reign of Song Jiaoyou (1056-1063), it was briefly renamed Nengren Temple, but its original name was restored in the seventh year of the Zhenghe era (1117). In the Song Dynasty, Chengtian Temple was popular among worshippers with its grand halls and ten scenic spots, including Rongjing Wu Yin, Yansong Qingfeng, Ta Wu Qin Qi, Yaotai Mingyue, Juanlian Chaori, Tuipeng Wan Yu, Fangchi Meiying, Xiaozao Zhusheng, Yingshan Muyun, and Shirou Yingwu.
