Nanhai Yellow River Wetland Scenic Area, located on the south side of Donghe District in Baotou City, is situated in the second bend of the meandering Yellow River. It consists of lakes, sandbars, and grasslands formed by the river's diversion. The scenic area covers an area of 1664 hectares and blends urban, Yellow River and wetland landscapes, making it an excellent destination for ecological tourism and leisure. It is home to more than 200 species of wild animals and plants and features ten famous attractions, including Timespace Terminal, Nanhai Tea House, Luoyan Beach, Zhaojun Ferry, Double Dragon Emerald, Yan Du Reed Marsh, Tang and Song Remains, Nine-colored Deer, West Lake Scenic Stones Beyond the Great Wall and Egg Rock Beach. In addition to the charming wetland scenery and vivid sculptures and strange stones, Nanhai Wetland is also a paradise for bird watching, especially during the migratory period of birds in September and October when a large number of birds come to the wetland to rest and forage, including black coots, white egrets, red-billed gulls, common terns, larks, woodpeckers, cormorants, swans, and other bird species. Moreover, the scenic area offers a variety of entertainment projects, including surfing, whitewater rafting, parasailing, and beach parties, as well as a Nanhai Ice and Snow Festival that enables visitors to spend an unforgettable winter.
