Introduction

The Stone City is a historical site located in Xinjiang, at the intersection of the Middle Route and the Southern Route of the ancient Silk Road. It is an important intersection connecting Kashgar, Shache, Yingjisha, and Yecheng to the Pamir Plateau.

Transportation
From Kashgar to Tashkurgan County, you need to purchase tickets one day in advance at the Tian Nan Lu Passenger Station. The ticket price is 55 yuan and there are only two buses per day, departing at 10:00 and 11:00 respectively. Alternatively, you can charter a car. Tourists usually visit the stone city on their way to Kara-Kul Lake or the border town of Irkeshtam. It takes about 10 minutes on foot to reach the ancient stone city from the county seat.
