Introduction

Many of the Hakka tulou in Yongding are designed according to the Bagua diagram, which deeply engraves traditional Chinese culture. The most iconic representative is the Zhencheng Building, in which the front gate represents the "Xun Gua" while the back gate represents the "Qian Gua". The outer building has four floors, with 48 rooms on each floor and 6 rooms for each Gua, with a staircase. The Guas are usually connected by archways. Once a thief enters the tulou, they can be trapped by simply closing the Gua doors.
