Wulan Butong Grassland, A grassland of cinematic splendor and cultural charm

The Ulan Butong grassland can be reached from two directions, one is from the city of Chifeng in Inner Mongolia and the other is from Weichang in Hebei. From Inner Mongolia: Chifeng Yulong Airport is 15 kilometers from the new city area of Chifeng, with flights to and from Beijing, Shanghai, Hohhot, Dalian, Shenyang, Tianjin, Chengdu, Chongqing, and Ordos. From Chifeng Airport, you can take the airport shuttle bus or bus route 33 to the city center. There are daily trains from Beijing, Dalian, Shenyang, and Harbin to Chifeng. From Chifeng Bus Station, take a long-distance bus to Keshiketeng Town, then transfer to a car to Ulan Butong Scenic Area at Keshiketeng Bus Station. From Weichang: Take a direct bus from Beijing Liuliqiao Bus Station or Xizhimen Long-distance Bus Station to Weichang. There are also buses from Chengde and Sihao to Weichang. From Weichang Bus Station and Mechanical Forest Farm, there are buses to Ulan Butong. If you are driving, it takes only 4 hours to reach Ulan Butong from Beijing via the Chengde Expressway. Driving routes: (1) Take the Jingcheng Expressway, exit at Shuangfeng Temple in Chengde, and go to Chengde Benlonghua-Weichang-Saihanba Mechanical Forest Farm- Junmacha; (2) Exit at Huairou on Beijing-Chengde Expressway, take National Road 111 towards Fengning County, then go to Guojiatun, Yudaokou, Mechanical Forest Farm, and Junmacha; (3) Beijing-Fengning-Inner Mongolia Duolun-Caimushan-Junmacha; (4) Beijing-Yanqing-207 National Road-Habirga-Zhenglanqi-Duolun-Caimushan-Junmacha. Routes (3) and (4) can save money on the Sahanba Scenic Area ticket, but the road is longer and not as good as (1) and (2). (5) Beijing-Chengde-Kalaxi Wangfu-Chifeng-Denglonghe Ranch-Zhirui-Huamugou Forest Farm-Ulan Butong. The total distance is 630 kilometers (228 kilometers from Chifeng to Ulan Butong), with full oil road. Inner Mongolia ticket is 120 yuan/person. This route is recommended for out-of-town tourists because the road condition is good. (6) Beijing-Chengde-Weichang-Saihanba Forest Farm-Ulan Butong. The total distance is about 430 kilometers. The Hebei ticket is 150 yuan/person and the Inner Mongolia ticket is 120 yuan/person. There are many mountain roads from Weichang, and there are two toll gates. This route is not recommended. (7) Keshiketeng-Guangxingyuan-Huamugou-Ulan Butong.
