Introduction
Tianjin University is a key national university located in Tianjin, founded in 1895. Its predecessor was the "Tianjin Beiyang Western Study School" approved by Emperor Guangxu, which was the first modern university in China and pioneered modern higher education in China. Tianjin University is one of the first batch of national key universities directly under the Ministry of Education. It is also one of the universities constructed under the national "Double First-Class" initiative, the "211 Project" and the "985 Project". It is one of ten engineering reform pilot universities identified by the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Ministry of Education, and has been selected for multiple national key plans such as the "Strong Foundation Plan", the "2011 Plan", the "111 Plan", and the "Outstanding Engineer Education Program". In addition, Tianjin University is a founding member of the Sino-European Alliance for Science and Technology Innovation Universities, a member of the China-ASEAN Engineering Education Alliance, one of the first higher education institutions for technological innovation and technology transfer bases, a national university student cultural quality education base, and one of the first batch of universities as a demonstration for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform nationwide. It has also been selected for several national key projects, such as the New Engineering Research and Practice Project, the National University Student Innovation Experiment Program, the National University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program, and the National High-Level University Public Overseas Study Program.
