Introduction

The iconic building in the center of the old town of Tianjin is the Tianjin Drum Tower, which was built in the second year of Ming Yongle. This two-story building is dedicated to many deities, including Guanyin Bodhisattva, the Empress of Heaven, and Guan Yu and Yue Fei. On the second floor of the Drum Tower is a 300-kilogram iron bell, which is 1.4 meters in diameter, 2.3 meters high, and weighs about 1500 kilograms. The bell's sound is known as the "King of Bells" in Tianjin and is also a beautifully crafted piece of art. There are four entrances on the ground floor of the Drum Tower, each opening in a different direction, to facilitate traffic flow between the four main streets in the city.
