Introduction

On September 14, 2011, a statue of a Siberian pioneer was built to commemorate the 350th anniversary of the founding of the city of Irkutsk. The statue commemorates Yakov Pokhabov, who was the leader of the Cossacks in Irkutsk. The statue is located along the Angara River, which was the earliest site of the city's founding and is one of the witnesses to the history of Siberian exploration.
