Introduction

Located on Mauna Loa volcano in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, the Hawaii Volcano Museum exhibits historical materials from over a century of volcanic eruptions and legends related to the volcano goddess. Additionally, the museum displays seven volcanic craters and different types of volcanic lava, such as high-temperature lava, low-temperature lava, sponge rock, tear rock, and hair rock, with vivid and detailed descriptions. Seven seismographs monitor the volcano's movements in real-time, with high-sensitivity seismographs predicting volcanic eruptions 40 hours in advance and providing the public with time for safe evacuation. Moreover, guides instruct visitors on how to distinguish between new and old volcanoes by analyzing the colors of volcanic rock, with more recent lava flows appearing darker and black, while older volcanic rocks tend to be coffee or tan-colored. The Hawaii Volcano Museum is a rich and informative place for visitors to delve deeper into the history and characteristics of Hawaii's volcanoes.
