Introduction

Shuangjiejie Lake, not far from Banff Town, is located next to Lake Minnewanka. The lake water is blue-green and there is a small island in the middle of the lake, similar to Spirit Island in Jasper National Park. Legend has it that in the late 19th century, two good friends met here, Jack Stanley, who worked in small boat business by Lake Minnewanka, and Jack Waters, who worked at the nearby Bankhead coal mine. They often met here, so people named the lake "Shuangjiejie Lake".
