Introduction

Located in the center of Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, the square was historically named Sukhbaatar Square, but was officially renamed Chinggis Khaan Square in July 2013. The north of the square is the National Palace, which houses the President, government, and parliament of Mongolia. A majestic statue of Chinggis Khaan stands on the square, symbolizing the great leader in Mongolian history. The center of the square is adorned with a statue of Sukhbaatar riding a horse, commemorating the independent leader of the Mongolian people.
