Introduction

The private residence of Count de Montellano in Havana, a colonial-style courtyard from the 18th century, was transformed into a rum museum. Prior to the revolutionary victory in 1959, it had been used as a private residence. The museum officially opened on March 31, 2000, showcasing various models and artifacts, providing a comprehensive overview of Cuba's famous rum-making process from collecting sugarcane to distilling rum. After visiting the museum, tourists also have the chance to taste a glass of rum and learn about Cuba's traditional drinking culture.
