Introduction

Shigu Academy is located in the Shigu District of Hengyang City, Hunan Province, and is the leader among the Four Great Academies of the Song Dynasty. The Academy is surrounded by beautiful scenery, has an elevation of 69 meters, and covers an area of 4,000 square meters, with a two-meter-high stone drum erected inside. According to records, the stone drum produces thunderous sounds when struck, and can even predict the coming of war. Shigu Mountain is one of the most famous historical tourist attractions in Hunan Province. The Academy was founded from the Tang Dynasty to the Republic of China, and underwent many expansions and renovations over hundreds of years.
