Introduction

Kong Family Mansion was a long-term residence of Confucius' family. It is known as the "number one mansion under heaven" due to its luxury and large scale, and is considered a typical example of the fusion of official residence and private dwelling in China's feudal society. The layout of the mansion is divided into three parts: east, west, and middle. The east houses the family shrine, while the west is where the descendants of Confucius read and studied, composed poetry, and entertained guests. The north and south halls were used as guest rooms. The middle part is the main section, with the official residence in the front and the private residence in the back. The official residence consists of three halls and six chambers. Kong Family Mansion houses a large collection of historical relics, the most famous of which are the "Ten Ritual Vessels from the Shang and Zhou Dynasties" and the precious "Seven-Beam Crown" from the Yuan Dynasty, the only one of its kind remaining in China.
