Spiez Town
Located on the shores of Lake Thun, Spiez Town is known as 'the most beautiful town in Switzerland'. It is situated between the Swiss capital Bern and Interlaken. The town features clear lake waters, is surrounded by mountains, and has fresh air. The most famous attraction in the town is Spiez Castle, which was built in 1200. The exterior style is medieval Bernese, while the interior decorations combine Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque art forms, making it elegant yet simple. This is one of the few historical monuments in Switzerland, where visitors can feel both the history and the romantic atmosphere.
Lauterbrunnen
Lauterbrunnen is located slightly southeast of Interlaken and is a must-visit spot on the western route of the Jungfrau region. The valley north of this small village features steep rocks and towering cliffs, attracting numerous hikers and cyclists. The entire valley is filled with the sound of cowbells, and every house looks as picturesque as a postcard. The German name 'Lauterbrunnen' means 'Town of Waterfalls,' hinting at the majestic scenery here. There are seventy-two waterfalls in the valley, the most famous being the Staubbach Falls. These waterfalls, plunging from cliffs 300 meters high, are among the highest free-falling waterfalls in Europe and are truly breathtaking.
Grindelwald
Grindelwald is a village located southeast of Interlaken, also known as the 'Glacier Village'. Nestled at the foot of the Jungfrau and other mountains, it is a must-visit destination for those traveling to the Jungfrau. It is a famous ski resort in Switzerland, suitable for beginners, seasoned skiers, and experts. Additionally, it is a great place for hiking and trekking, with over 100 kilometers of summer trails and 120 kilometers of winter walking paths, offering panoramic and close-up views of the Alps!
Thun Castle
Thun is located at the northwest end of Lake Thun and is the gateway to the Bernese Oberland. This historic old town is about one kilometer from the lakeshore and sits on the banks of the Aare River. The best way to reach it is by boat, which takes about two hours one way, allowing visitors to enjoy beautiful castle views along the shore. In the center of the old town is Thun Castle, built in the 12th century, perched on a high hill overlooking Lake Thun. It was constructed by the Dukes of Zähringen and historically served as an important transportation route. Today, it has become a history museum. Thun Castle and the adjacent church are the most prominent and striking buildings in the city!
