Unlocking popular attractions in Tianshui, Gansu

Tianshui is known as "Little Jiangnan on the Loess Plateau". In ancient times, it was called Qinzhou and was a small city on the banks of the Wei River. Throughout history, Qinzhou has been an important town for westward migration to Chang'an. It is known as the birthplace of the Emperor Xuanyuan and the early culture of the Qin dynasty, with a civilization history of more than 8,000 years and a cultural metropolis for more than 2,700 years.

Wushan Hot Spring

Wushan Hot Spring, the number one hot spring in the northwest, is one of the eight ancient scenic spots of Ningyuan with a long history. It is one of the national mineral spring health resorts. Currently, it hosts the Lanzhou Railway Sanatorium, the Gansu Provincial Health Department Sanatorium, the Xiangjian Sanatorium, and various farm stays, integrating health care, leisure, and entertainment with comprehensive services and facilities. The hot spring is located between Tianshui Station and Lanzhou Station on the Longhai Railway, just 15 kilometers from Luomen Station. There are daily tourist buses commuting between Luomen and Wushan to transport visitors for health care and tourism. The sanatorium area is surrounded by mountains on three sides (southeast, south, and west), offering a quiet and elegant environment with clean air and no noise pollution. The annual temperature variation is small, and during spring, summer, and autumn, the area is filled with birdsong and fragrant flowers, making it an ideal period for health care and rehabilitation.
Located in Wushan County, west of Tianshui City, Shuilian Cave in Wushan is a scenic area mainly featuring ancient grotto murals, temples, and natural landscapes. The construction of Shuilian Cave Grottoes began during the Later Qin period of the Sixteen Kingdoms and continued through the Northern Wei, Northern Zhou, Sui, Tang, Five Dynasties, Song, and Yuan periods, making it a famous grotto site in Tianshui, second only to the Maijishan Grottoes.

Xianren Cliff

Located 15 kilometers away from the Maijishan Grottoes, Xianren Cliff consists of three cliffs, five peaks, and six temples. The verdant peaks at the top of the mountain and the temples built on the peaks or between the cliffs are quite elegant. According to their positions, the three cliffs are named East Cliff, West Cliff, and South Cliff. The five peaks are Yuhuang Peak, Baogai Peak, Xianzhu Peak, East Cliff Peak, and West Cliff Peak. The six temples are Mulian Temple, Shilian Temple, Tielian Temple, Hualian Temple, Shuilian Temple, and Lingying Temple. The five peaks and the numerous peaks of Luohan Valley are interspersed with each other, presenting various postures, as if bowing to Yuhuang Peak, which is known as 'Eighteen Arhats Worshiping the Jade Emperor'.

Gangu Elephant Mountain

One of the eight scenic spots of Gangu, it is an important cultural relic of grottoes and ancient buildings on the ancient Silk Road.
During the Later Qin period, the Maijishan Grottoes were named because the shape of the mountain resembles a farmer's wheat stack. The caves are surrounded by beautiful scenery, with dense mountains, green pines, and cypresses, and lush wildflowers and grasses. The area is shaded by green trees, with layers upon layers of mountains and valleys, resembling a sea of green pines, shrouded in mist, creating a picturesque landscape. It is acclaimed as the top of the eight scenic spots in Tianshui, known as 'Maiji Mist and Rain'.
