Located at the intersection of Henan, Shandong, Jiangsu, and Anhui provinces, Shangqiu is known as the eastern gateway of Henan province and one of the six central cities of the China-Europe Land-Sea Express Line. With a history of more than 5,000 years, Shangqiu, due to its prosperous commerce, is known as the "origin of three merchants and the capital of Chinese merchants." It is an important birthplace of Chinese civilization and the Chinese nation, as well as a former capital during the Six Dynasties period. It is also a famous city with a rich history and culture. Because of its long history, Shangqiu has numerous cultural relics, such as the tomb of Emperor Suiren, the earliest astronomical observatory in the world - Huoshen Pavilion, the tomb of the Taoist master Zhuangzi, and the Yingtian Academy which is one of the four most prestigious academies in ancient China. The Shangqiu Ancient Tourism Resort is located in Suiyang District, Shangqiu City. It covers an area of 12.6 square kilometers and is home to the Ming Dynasty's "Guidefu City Wall" and the "Song Guo Ancient City Site", which are both national key cultural heritage sites. The Shangqiu Ancient City is one of the well-preserved ancient cities in China and is also a national key cultural heritage site. The Shangqiu Ancient Cultural Tourism Area, located in Suiyang District, Shangqiu City, covers an area of 12.6 square kilometers and is a national key cultural heritage site for the Ming Dynasty's "Guidefu Site" and the "Song Guo Ancient City Site".
Yingtianfu Academy, also known as Yingtian Academy and Suiyang Academy, was originally named Nandu Academy. It was founded by Yang Que, a native of Shangqiu, during the Later Jin dynasty of the Five Dynasties period. It is located on the south shore of Nanhu Lake in Suiyang District, Shangqiu City, Henan Province, which is a national 4A-level scenic area and one of the four famous ancient academies in China. In the second year of Daqing Xiangfu era (1009), Emperor Zhenzong of Song granted it the name of Yingtian Academy. In the Jingyou era of Emperor Renzong of Song (1034), it was changed to Fuxue and renamed as Yingtianfu Academy. In the third year of Qingli (1043), it was changed to be National School in Nanjing (present-day Shangqiu, Henan), becoming the highest institution of learning in Northern Song Dynasty. In the early years of the Northern Song Dynasty, most academies were located in scenic mountainous areas, but Yingtian Academy was set up in a bustling urban area, which produced many talented individuals. With the participation of Yan Shu, Fan Zhongyan, and others, Yingtian Academy gradually developed into the most influential academy in the Northern Song Dynasty and ranked first among the four major academies.
The Chongfa Temple Pagoda in the northeast corner of Martyrs Cemetery in Yongcheng City. According to the records of the Qing Guangxu "Yongcheng County Annals": "Chongfa Temple... was built before the Tang Dynasty, and the Shao Sheng period built the pagoda, which was several zhang high." The temple no longer exists, only the pagoda remains. According to historical records and the inscriptions on the stones and bricks in the underground palace of the pagoda, it was built in the first year of Shao Sheng during the Song Dynasty (1093) and completed in the fifth year of Shao Sheng (1098). The Chongfa Temple Pagoda is a brick pagoda with a wooden structure imitating a tower. It has an octagonal floor plan, nine layers, a total height of 34.6 meters, and different internal structures on each floor. The passageways inside the pagoda are all brick-concrete structures.

Yellow River Old Channel National Forest Park

The National Forest Park is an important part of the "Yellow River Tour - The Soul of the Chinese Nation" and the "0- One Line Expansion" tourist routes in Henan Province. It is also one of the three main tourist attractions in Shangqiu City. Located 11 kilometers north of Liangyuan District in Shangqiu City, on the Ming and Qing Dynasty Yellow River Old Course, with a total area of 65 square kilometers, it is one of the few plain artificial forest national forest parks in China. It has a deep historical and cultural heritage, with beautiful ecological and natural landscapes. It is now a national 3A scenic area.
Zhuangzi Cultural Tourism Scenic Area is located in Zhuangzi Town, Minquan County, Shangqiu City, Henan Province. It consists of three parts: Zhuangzi Cultural Museum, Zhuangzi Residence, and Zhuang Zhou Mausoleum. The Zhuangzi Cultural Exhibition Hall is the main theme, covering an area of 25 acres with a total construction area of 21,203 square meters. It is a large comprehensive venue that integrates popular culture, book reading, and cultural exhibitions. Zhuangzi Residence is located in Qinglian Temple Village, Zhuangzi Town, Minquan County. Zhuangzi's Hutong is a place where Zhuangzi welcomes and entertains friends, recites poetry in the morning and evening, and strolls along the foreign shop. Zhuangzi Well has an ancient well with solid walls and a smooth and jade-like surface. The spring water is clear and sweet, and it is said to be the place where Zhuang Zhou collected water for alchemy. Zhuang Zhou Mausoleum is located on the east side of Tangzhuang Village, 5 kilometers south of Qinglian Temple Village, Zhuangzi Town.
