First Breakfast Stop: Mission Hills Huayi Feng Xiaogang Movie Town
The most famous and popular attraction in Haikou, the scenic area mainly consists of 1942 Street and Nanyang Street. It is modeled after the Chongqing streets in Feng Xiaogang's movie 'Back to 1942'. The 91 buildings showcase the typical architectural styles of the four major cities along the Yangtze River in the 1930s and 1940s: Chongqing, Wuhan, Nanjing, and Shanghai. Nanyang Street features Nanyang-style architecture. The recent movie 'Youth', which experienced a fire, was also filmed in the Movie Town, specifically in the area dedicated to 'Youth'. Visiting the Youth Courtyard after watching the movie will surely offer a different experience.
Breakfast Stop 2: Crater Park
It is one of the rare Quaternary volcanic parks in the world, dating back about 10,000 years. It has 40 volcanic cones and more than 30 karst tunnels. It is the only tropical city meteorite crater world geological park in China. Haikou volcano is neither an active volcano nor a dormant volcano, but an extinct volcano, meaning it erupted in prehistoric times but has now lost its activity. The surface of the volcanic rock has undergone thousands of years of natural evolution, resulting in lush vegetation.
Lunch: Crater Restaurant Taste
The Crater Restaurant at the entrance of the scenic area has a great taste, mainly featuring Shishan Farmhouse cuisine. It opened more than ten years ago and has undergone several renovations. It is still in operation today and is crowded during the peak tourist season. Recommended dishes include Shishan Tofu, Shishan Stone Lamb, and Hainan Vegetarian Pot.
First Stop in the Afternoon: Holiday Beach Tourist Area
Completed at the end of 1995, the Holiday Beach Tourist Area is regarded as the 'Golden Coast' by the citizens of Haikou. With its clear sunshine, blue sea, lush coconut groves, and colorful seaside leisure and entertainment facilities, Holiday Beach, as its name suggests, is the top choice for Haikou residents for vacation and relaxation. Every weekend or holiday, the southern coastal-themed Holiday Beach becomes a relaxing space for Haikou citizens to unwind and is also an excellent place for tourists from other regions to understand and experience the tropical coastal urban leisure and vacation life of Haikou.
Afternoon Second Stop: Haikou Qilou Old Street
Qilou Old Street is located in the bustling area of Haikou. In recent years, the government has made great efforts to renovate and maintain it, advocating that 'Haikou Qilou Old Street' specifically refers to Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street. In addition, surrounding streets such as Bo'ai North Road, Bo'ai South Road, Xinhua North Road, Xinhua South Road, Shuixiangkou Street, and Zhendong Street still retain the historical appearance of Qilou buildings from around the 1920s.
Dinner: Shuixiangkou Street
This is no longer a street designed specifically for tourists, but a place to truly explore local cuisine. Shuixiangkou, a place familiar to old Haikou residents, features both traditional snack shops with long histories and high-end, refined new restaurants.
First Night Tour Stop: Haikou Bay
You can take a night cruise to enjoy the scenery. The cruise ship has three levels: the first level features stage performances and interactive programs, with a bar offering drinks and tea; the second level is for leisure and entertainment, providing high-end wines and pastries; the third level is for waterside viewing, with a bar offering beer, barbecue, and snacks. As night falls, with a gentle breeze blowing, you can admire the dazzling lights and the magnificent Century Bridge from different angles, giving Haikou a unique charm.
