Travel guide for experiencing the Northern Lights in Yellowknife, Canada

Yellowknife, the capital of Canada's Northwest Territories, is located near the Arctic Circle where the weather is extremely cold and the population is sparse. It is also situated in the aurora zone and is said to have 240 days a year where the Northern Lights can be seen. In addition to this, there are also recommendations for food, drink, and entertainment.

GMS Store

Gallery of the Midnight Sun is the largest souvenir shop in Yellowknife, located in the old town. The store is marked by a large bear sculpture on the street! Clothes, handicrafts, you name it, they have it. In addition to regular clothes, postcards, and fridge magnets, the store also offers collectible items such as glassware and diamonds.

Post Office

The post office is located directly opposite the Yellowknife A&W. They sell postcards here, and mailing one to China costs 2.5 CAD. The clerk will help you put it in the mailbox.

Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre

Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre is a very interesting museum that documents the development and prosperity of the entire city.

Bush Pilots Monument

Pilot Monument is the highest point in Yellowknife. From here, you can see Great Slave Lake, Yellowknife Bay, the Old Town, and some surrounding islands. The highest point is just a small hill—not very high, with about 100 steps.

Trader's Grill

Fresh salmon, shrimp, special pork, and chicken are available. The steak is large and made from bison meat. The accompanying sausage is truly delicious. In Yellowknife, reindeer meat is also a major specialty. The Seafood Chowder is rich and has a good texture.
Curry chicken, tastes good. The flavor is similar to Chinese street stir-fry, very tasty and the portion is generous.

Bullock's Bistro

Bullock's Bistro is a restaurant located in Yellowknife, known for its fish and chips. Although it is not very large, it has a unique charm. The walls and tables inside are adorned with various small drawings and writings by visitors, making Bullock's Bistro one of the must-visit 'attractions' for tourists. Even the Queen of England and President Putin have tasted the food here. Since the ingredients supplied daily are freshly caught, and the types of fish vary, the fish offered on the menu also changes daily.

ZEHABESHA

The store is a bit hard to find. Curry lamb and specialty coffee, the rice should be mixed with the condiments on the table. The portions are very generous, one serving is enough for two people.
Dancing Moose is a bed and breakfast inn, offering a variety of breakfast options with a Belgian flavor. We ordered the waffle and bacon set! Highly recommend the coffee, it's very delicious!
