Xishuangbanna General Buddhist Temple is located near Manting Park in Jinghong Town. It is the center for Buddhist believers in Xishuangbanna to worship, and the stream of worshippers is endless. The architecture of the General Buddhist Temple is grand and magnificent, with each corner and place being unique. The exquisitely carved beams and columns are a visual delight.
Originally built in 583 AD, it has a history of over 1400 years. It is said to be the first Buddhist temple built after Buddhism was introduced to Xishuangbanna. The Dai Ethnic Garden, composed of five Dai villages: Manjiang, Manchunman, Manzha, Manting, and Manga, centers around Manchunman Temple, fully showcasing the mysterious and unique Theravada Buddhism that has been passed down for a thousand years.
Mange Temple stands north of the Lancang River Bridge. From Jinghong, head east, cross the Lancang River Bridge, and turn right into Mange Village to see the splendid Mange Temple. It is the oldest Buddhist temple in Jinghong City. The temple is surrounded by traditional Dai bamboo houses and tall broad-leaved trees such as bodhi, mango, and betel nut, making it a typical Southern Theravada Buddhist temple.
Xishuangbanna Mengle Cultural Tourism Zone
Xishuangbanna Mengle Cultural Tourism Zone (Mengle Grand Buddha Temple) is located in Jinghong City, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture. It was restored and rebuilt on the site of the ancient royal temple of the Dai dynasty, 'Jingpiao Buddha Temple'. There are more than 3,000 steps, and physically fit visitors can walk to the top, or they can choose to take a sightseeing car.
Manfeilong White Pagoda
Manfeilong Pagoda is located on the hillside behind Manfeilong Village in Menglong Town, Jinghong City, Yunnan. It is named after its location and is also known as Feilong White Pagoda. The pagoda consists of a main pagoda and eight smaller pagodas. From a distance, it looks like a cluster of bamboo shoots breaking through the ground, hence it is also called Bamboo Shoot Pagoda. It is a Vajra Throne-style pagoda complex.
Jingzhen Octagonal Pavilion
Jingzhen Octagonal Pavilion is located 14 kilometers west of Jinghong, on Jingzhen Mountain in Menghai County. The pavilion is named after the mountain and is one of the important cultural relics in Xishuangbanna. Each of the eight corners of the pavilion is adorned with sculptures of golden roosters, phoenixes, and brightly colored exotic flowers. At the top of the pavilion is a lotus canopy and a wind chime, which produces a pleasant sound when the breeze passes through.
Manlei Pagoda
Manlei Pagoda is located on the top of the mountain beside Manlei Village in the southeast of Mengzheba, Menghai County, hence the name Manlei Pagoda. Mengzheba is the first dam in Xishuangbanna and an important granary in Xishuangbanna.
