Now go very dry and hot not recommended. I just took the same route as you a few days ago. It took quite a long time, about six or seven hours. I went at the beginning of this month. It was all desert along the way, very dry and hot. It was better when I was close to Yosemite. I didn't really play inside because I had to rush to Yosemite in the afternoon. The United States is very large, and every time you go somewhere it's different.
