Take the car and stay near the airport. On the first night, it is not recommended to leave Melbourne. After taking the luggage and getting the car, it is already dark. Don't drive on the right-hand side of the road. Some cheaper hotels near the airport are Ciloms Airport Lodge, Ibis Airport, Best Western, Mantra Tullamarine.
