Edinburgh is quite cold when there is no sun, and you need to wear a thick coat.

In Sardinia, you can wear whatever you like. The temperature is around 10 degrees Celsius, so just dress according to your preference. I am in the same situation. I couldn't book a stay on Sky Island, so I will leave early and return late, and I won't be able to visit too many attractions in between.
