The car rented can be used. I have bought ferry tickets. If there is an accident on the ship, the insurance will not be compensated. Everyone in the forum does it this way.

I also know that, but it seems that there are cars rented for the ferry. It's 340 kilometers from Phillip Island to Apollo Bay, about 4 and a half hours. An hour faster than the ferry.
