From Wellington in the North Island to Picton in the South Island, the ferry crossing takes 3 and a half hours, with a staff ticket priced at 317 RMB and a vehicle (length less than 5.5 meters) ticket priced at 870 RMB. There are two different ferry companies (with different wharf addresses), and the prices are slightly different. There are several flights a day, and we took the 9 o'clock flight, arriving in Picton at noon, driving across the island, driving off the ship directly, just in time to watch the sunset at Pancake Rocks.
