Introduction

In the main campus of the University of Cambridge, there is a river called "Cam". Early students from Fujian and Guangdong named it "Jian River" as "Cam" sounds like "Jian" in the local dialect. The river is also known as "Granta River" which comes from Xu Zhimo's "Saying Goodbye to Cambridge Again". "River Cam" and "River Granta" actually refer to the same river, which is commonly called "Granta" by locals. "River Granta" refers to the section of the river from Cambridge Town to Grantchester Manor, where there are pastoral landscapes along the riverbanks, while "River Cam" refers to the downstream section where there are grand buildings and wide lawns, known as the College Backs. At Queen's College Wharf, you can rent a boat to float on the "Granta" or the backyard of a college. The scenery along the Jian River is beautiful, composing a relaxed and leisurely picture of college life. Along the way, you can see the beautiful Bridge of Sighs, Clare College Bridge and the famous Mathematical Bridge. When you visit Cambridge, do not miss the opportunity to drift on the Cam River, enjoy the scenery, listen to the poignant stories told by the local boatmen, and experience the peaceful and serene green space and sparkling water surface.
