Introduction

Located on the River Thames, Waterloo Bridge is a bridge in London, adjacent to Blackfriars Bridge and Hungerford Bridge. The bridge was named Waterloo Bridge because the British army won the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. Because of its position on a bend in the River Thames, it is widely believed that the view of London from this bridge is unparalleled, with views of Westminster to the west, the South Bank and the London Eye, and the City of London and Canary Wharf to the east.
