Introduction

The Brussels Palace is located in front of Brussels Park and is a symbol of the constitutional monarchy that represents the political system of Belgium. The palace is where the Belgian king exercises his prerogative as head of state, receives guests, and handles national affairs. It also serves as a venue for major receptions and provides accommodation during visits by other heads of state. Although the Brussels Palace is one of the most beautiful buildings in Brussels, the Belgian royal family does not reside here. They live in the Royal Castle of Laeken in the outskirts of Brussels. The palace and the axis of the Belgian Federal Parliament on the other side together represent the symbol of constitutional monarchy.
