Introduction

Hokkaido University, also known as Hokudai or Haida, is a national research university located in Hokkaido, Japan. Its history dates back to 1876 when it was established as Sapporo Agricultural College, later renamed Hokkaido Imperial University. Hokudai has produced many prominent alumni, including Nobel laureates in Chemistry, recipients of the Rolf Schock Prize, 3 Akutagawa Prize winners, and over 100 university presidents.
