Introduction
Dubar Square and Thamel were severely damaged during the 8.1-magnitude earthquake on April 25, 2015, with most of the buildings collapsing. The Tamil region also suffered some damage to houses. Dubar Square and Thamel are two iconic locations in the old city of Kathmandu. Thamel is a popular area for foreign tourists, with narrow and bustling alleys filled with small shops catering to tourists' needs. Dubar Square is located in the old palace area and is home to many impressive temples. Walking from Thamel to Dubar Square along the alleys, squares, and small temples takes less than half an hour and offers the best way to experience the old city of Kathmandu.
