Introduction
The "Road to Hana" on Maui's Molokai Island is one of the two must-see attractions for tourists and was Mark Twain's favorite. The name of the Hana Highway doesn't refer to any particular location, but emphasizes the importance of the journey. Starting from the airport, follow the highway to the west for 360 degrees, then turn to Highway 31. There are dozens of scenic spots along the way, each marked with a "Mile" sign. These spots include waterfalls, various landscapes, art exhibitions, and snack shops for tourists to enjoy.
Local people often say that the trip to Hana could be the best day of your life or the worst. It depends on how carefully you drive because the scenery is breathtaking and the road is extremely dangerous. There are more than 500 180-degree turns and over fifty one-lane bridges along the way. The Hana Highway usually ends at the 42-mile Kipahulu Park, which has no food but only water, so it's better to bring lunch and plenty of water. Of course, tourists can also drive to the nearby "Half Way to Hana" shop to try local snacks (a little expensive).
