Introduction

Qingyan Ancient Town was built during the Ming Dynasty and has preserved a large number of ancient buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is known as one of the four ancient towns in Guizhou for its well-preserved architecture, alongside Zhenyuan, Bing'an, and Longli. The town is surrounded by mountains and water, and the city walls are made of huge stones. The stairs on the cliffs are rugged, and there are four gates located in the east, west, south, and north. The exquisite craftsmanship of stone and wood carvings in the town is also admirable. Behind the alleys is Qingyan's most characteristic stone lane, with tall buildings and layers of stone walls lining the street. The narrow and quiet path is a great place for photography enthusiasts to enjoy some peace and tranquility. It is worth mentioning that the town has four major religions coexisting: Buddhism, Taoism, Catholicism, and Christianity. It also has a well-preserved Christian church and a Catholic church.
