Frederiksborg Castle is located in the center of Hillerod, spanning three islands in the lakes. The oldest part of the castle was built by King Frederik II in 1560 and the castle is named after him. The majority of the current castle was built by Frederik II's son, Christian IV, between 1600 and 1620. It is a Dutch Renaissance-style building with extensive gables and sandstone.

The elegant Baroque-style castle Fredensborg Castle is often referred to as the Versailles of Denmark. In 1722, Danish King Frederik IV named it Fredensborg Castle to commemorate the end of the Northern Wars, meaning "Place of Peace". The castle is frequently used for important family events of the Danish royal family, such as wedding banquets, wedding anniversary celebrations, birthday parties, etc. National leaders from around the world are also invited to the castle for state visits.
Christiansborg Palace was originally built between 1773 and 1775. King Christian VI built this magnificent, grand, and comfortable new palace on the site of the old royal palace (Copenhagen Palace). As it served as the sleeping palace for King Christian VI, it was named Christiansborg Palace. Christiansborg Palace features the Rococo architectural style of the eighteenth century in Europe. Since 1849, Christiansborg Palace has been used as a meeting place for the Parliament.

Hamelin Palace

Amalienborg Palace, built in the 18th century, is considered one of the greatest Rococo-style architecture in Denmark. The palace consists of four identical buildings, namely Christian VII's Palace (also known as Moltke's Palace), Christian VIII's Palace (also known as Levetzau's Palace), Frederik VIII's Palace (also known as Brockdorff's Palace), and Christian IX's Palace (also known as Schack's Palace), arranged around an octagonal courtyard.
