Introducción
Qinghai Lake and Eling Lake are the two largest freshwater lakes in the upstream of the Yellow River. They are commonly known as "Zhaling Sea" which means a long white lake. The lake is located in a structural depression of Maduo County on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, west of Eling Lake. The lake surface is at an altitude of 4294 meters, with a length of 35 kilometers from east to west and a width of 21.6 kilometers from north to south. The total area reaches 526 square kilometers, with an average depth of 8.9 meters. The deepest point is located on the northeast side of the lake center, with a water storage capacity of 4.6 billion cubic meters. The two tributaries of the Yellow River, Nakar Qu and Ma Qu, converge here to form the Yellow River. A river flows into the southwest corner of the lake, and a river flows out of the southeast corner, while the main stream of the Yellow River passes through the center of the lake. Due to the large amount of sediment brought by the Yellow River, the lake water appears gray-white when waves are raised on the lake surface, hence the name "Long White Lake." The lake has many planktonic plants and abundant fish resources, which is one of the important Qinghai fishery bases along with Eling Lake. There are three small islands in the western part of the lake, where thousands of migratory birds gather in the summer, so it is also called Bird Island. The lakeside area is a subalpine meadow and an important pasture. Dirección El Condado Autónomo Tibetano de Golog en la provincia de Qinghai, China
