Introduction

The Fountain of Neptune is an iconic building in Bologna, located between the City Hall, Enzo Palace and Padesata Palace. The fountain was created by French artist Giambologna in 1566 and is mostly composed of bronze statues and a pedestal. Above the bronze statue is an image of Neptune, the sea god, holding a trident. The pedestal is in three layers, with children holding fish at each corner and four half-naked girls touching their chests at the bottom. At night, the light from the fountain illuminates the image of Neptune, projecting it onto the opposite wall, creating a beautiful scene.
