Introduction

The Sacred Plaza in Machu Picchu is a special place, considered to be the heart of the region. There are three main buildings in this area: the Main Temple of Machu Picchu, the Temple of Three Windows and the Intihuatana stone. These buildings are larger than any other in Machu Picchu, with the lintel of the Main Temple weighing 3 tons and being particularly impressive. The Main Temple only has three walls, with a simple little temple adjacent to it, believed by historians to have been a resting place for priests. This area holds significant historical importance and is a must-visit for travelers.
