Introduction

Opened to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Peru's independence on July 27th, 1921, Plaza San Martin is one of the most iconic public spaces in Lima's historic center. Located within the Lima Historic Center, a world heritage site, it is adjacent to the Plaza de Armas. At the center of the square is the monument of Peruvian liberator Jose de San Martin, honoring him with great respect.
