Drive or walk into the center of Kaikoura town along Esplanade, the coastal street, then continue along this street past Avoca Street and Fyffe Quay to reach the Point Kean fur seal colony. The distance from the town center to the fur seal colony is about 4 kilometers, which takes only about 5 minutes by car and about 50 minutes on foot.
