Introduction

The Gateway Arch in St. Louis was built in 1965 to commemorate the spirit of pioneers who crossed the Mississippi River to explore unknown lands during the frontier era. It is one of the symbols of the American Westward Expansion, standing at 192 meters tall with a magnificent and grand design. The arch is made of a parabolic shape structure, weighing 886 tons and made of stainless steel. From the ground up, it appears to be a silver arc extending into the sky.
