Introduction

The Wave is located on the Paria River at the border of Utah and Arizona in the United States. It is formed by a giant sand dune, which began to deposit during the Jurassic period and covered with red sand saturated by groundwater, creating a layered sandstone structure and a three-dimensional effect. Due to the protection of natural wonders, the Bureau of Land Management of the United States allows only 20 people to enter per day, and a permit must be obtained through a lottery system, with no signs in the area. The management department issues 10 on-site and 10 online permits every day. Applications require personal information and a $5 permit fee and postage. In addition, 10 people can participate in the lottery on-site at the Utah office the day before. Those selected can pay the fee and obtain a permit, parking pass, and map for the following day's entry to The Wave. Trespassers without permits will be fined. There are still many natural wonders worth exploring in the protected area.
