The school is proud of its commitment to teaching and has a group of outstanding teachers who actively participate in academic, research, technology innovation, social services and artistic fields. When San Jose was founded in 1777, it was the first town in Spanish-Mexican New California (later Upper California) and was an agricultural town built to provide food for nearby military facilities.
