Introduction

San Diego Harbor is one of the best natural harbors on the west coast of North America. It is 19 kilometers long and up to 4.8 kilometers wide, including cities such as Coronado and the Pearl Beach. Currently, San Diego Bay is the home port of the US Navy's Pacific Fleet. The western boundary of the bay is protected by the narrow strip of land called the "Silver Strand" of the Pacific Ocean. North Island is the location of the Navy's air station, including the home port of the aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan. San Diego Harbor often sees US military ships, including aircraft carriers, destroyers, frigates, and hospital ships. One of the aircraft carriers has been retired from World War II and is now open for tourists to visit. Visitors will have the opportunity to see these huge ships and experience many of the onboard facilities. Beside the ship, there is a square where families and leaders welcome back sailors returning from the Navy. In addition, visitors can also see a very famous sculpture, "The Kiss of the Navy", which was taken by a reporter when a sailor and a stranger kissed passionately in the harbor at the end of World War II. Later, they got married and made the photo into a sculpture, which stands forever in the place where sailors are welcomed home.
