Introduction

In the 19th century, the University of Pennsylvania dispatched multiple expeditions to explore and excavate regions in the Middle East and Far East. Today, the museum houses a large collection of cultural relics, covering civilizations such as Babylon, Mesopotamia, Egypt, the Ottoman Empire, China and Far East, and possessing very high archaeological value. Treasures in the collection include mummies, ancient Greek sculptures, and Han dynasty qilin, among others.
