Introduction

The National Museum of the American Indian in the United States is a museum belonging to the Smithsonian Institution, exhibiting various aspects of the lives, languages, histories, literatures, and art of the Native American Indigenous peoples of North America. The museum took 15 years to build, and officially opened on September 21, 2004, becoming the first Native American museum in the United States. The museum has five floors and was designed by Canadian architect Douglas Cardinal, with a rich collection of exhibits.

10:00 to 17:30 (Closed on December 25th Christmas Day)
The special exhibition area, coffee area, and museum shop will be closed gradually starting from 17:15.
Transportation
Take the Blue Line/Orange Line/Yellow Line/Green Line to L'Enfant Plaza Metro Station, and head north along 7th St SW from the Maryland Ave. Exit to Maryland Ave SW, then continue to Independence Ave SW until you reach the National Museum of the American Indian. The walking time is about 10 minutes.
