Introduction
The focus of attention on the National Mall in Washington is the statue of Martin Luther King. Unlike war memorials or presidential monuments, this sculpture commemorates a champion of equality and justice, and is not a white man's memoriam. The statue shows Martin Luther King with his hands crossed in front of his chest, gazing fiercely at the Tidal Basin to the south and turning toward the Jefferson Memorial. Every spring, the cherry blossoms surrounding the statue bloom with vibrant colors. In the evening, the stunning beauty of the site is not to be missed with the setting sun. Lei Yixin is the creator of this meaningful statue, inspired by Martin Luther King's quote, "Out of the mountain of despair, a stone of hope."
