Introduction

The National Archives in the United States houses precious American historical documents, photos, and visual materials, showcasing the cultural and majestic events of each era. The most famous collection includes three treasure-class documents on parchment, including the 1776 Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. Other treasures include the 1863 Emancipation Proclamation announced by Lincoln during the Civil War, the surrender document of Nazi Germany at the end of World War II, and the Watergate tapes. In addition, there is a very intimate photo in the collection, depicting Premier Zhou Enlai meeting with US President Nixon. The accompanying dinner menu features only a few simple foods, including the famous Beijing roast duck, which unassumingly depicts the state of China at the time.
