Introduction

Located at the intersection of Haight St and Ashbury St, the hippie district extends outward and is close to the east gate of Golden Gate Park, making it a historically significant neighborhood. In the 1960s, this area gained fame during the Flower Power movement. Today, while there are still some free-spirited hippies walking back and forth on the narrow sidewalks, it remains an ideal place for local young people and tourists to shop or hang out. The Victorian-style buildings on Haight St are decorated in a bohemian and idealized style, with trendy shops, vintage clothing stores, craft shops, bars, and tattoo shops standing side by side.
