Introduction
The waterfront road on the east side of the San Francisco Bay is called The Embarcadero. It starts at the intersection of 2nd Street and King Street and ends at Pier 45, passing through the Ferry Building, Fisherman's Wharf, and Pier 39 in between. The waterfront promenade was named Herb Caen Way after the local famous columnist passed away in 1997, located between Harrison Street and Broadway.
