Introduction

St. John the Divine Cathedral in New York City is the Episcopal Cathedral of the Diocese of New York, located at 1047 Amsterdam Avenue on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The cathedral was designed in 1888 and construction began in 1892. During construction, there were significant changes in architectural style and interruptions due to two world wars. Although the cathedral is still under construction, it has become a popular attraction for tourists in New York and is known as the largest Episcopalian cathedral in the world and the third-largest Christian church in the world.
