Introduction
Blenheim Palace is located in Woodstock, England and is an excellent example of British garden design, blending pastoral scenery, landscaping, and family courtyards to present exceptional charm. In 1988, Blenheim Palace was listed as a world cultural heritage site. This official residence is the only private residence in England that is not a religious building but is referred to as a "palace". It is named after the Battle of Blenheim that took place on August 13, 1704, on the north bank of the Danube River. John Churchill, the first Duke of Marlborough, defeated the army of Louis XIV of France in Blenheim Town and won the battle. To commend the achievements of the Duke of Marlborough, Queen Anne at the time granted 1,100 acres of land and the parliament awarded 240,000 pounds to build "Blenheim Palace".
